Teen Counseling

Individual-CounselingThe teenage years can be one of the most difficult periods of time over the course of one’s life.

The combination of physical changes and developmental shifts can sometimes make it extremely difficult to successfully adjust.

This can bring up identity confusion, social difficulties, questions related to sexuality, and hard choices regarding drugs and alcohol. Additionally, the increased challenges presented by technology / social media and pressure to succeed, can make it particularly difficult for a teenager to manage the demands of life.

These challenges can often result in teenagers struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse and generally feeling overwhelmed. Similarly, parents may find it difficult to manage these various issues and can experience their own negative feelings and challenges with coping.

Therapy can provide significant assistance with overcoming these obstacles and developing a positive self-image and outlook towards life.

Challenges teens are facing:

  • Feeling comfortable in social settings and relationships
  • Chronic feelings of sadness, anxiety or emptiness
  • Drug and/or alcohol abuse
  • Internet addiction
  • Excessive worry about everyday life events
  • Self-esteem issues that interfere with feeling comfortable with one’s self
  • Senior year stress
